ABOUT
US
Eyaa-Keen
means "being self or being natural" in Ojibway,
an Aboriginal language inherent to the Manitoba
region. As an individual becomes more aware
of and accepting of them self, they naturally
become more free, happy, peaceful and powerful.
Their inherent gifts, abilities and purpose
in life naturally present themselves, enabling
them to lead productive, healthy lives.
By recognizing and overcoming one's own
inner blocks and obstacles, awakening naturally
occurs.
WHAT
WE DO
Eyaa-Keen
Centre focuses on providing integrated physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual treatment,
healing and development for Aboriginal adults
over the age of 24. Healing tools are provided
for the participant to incorporate into
his/her daily life. Change is initiated
and is progressive, as participants learn
to "clear" and "release" barriers that hold
them back from living their lives in a healthy
and good way.
Through
a series of Aboriginal Traditional based
sessions, Eyaa-Keen teaches, guides and
supports an individual to progress from
survival mode to balanced living, at their
own pace. Sessions are designed to encourage
individuals to change gradually through
active healing, learning, and developing
life affirming practices. Eyaa-Keen facilitates
the process for people to start living fully
alive, thriving, and making good decisions
in their own lives, in their own way.
OUR MISSION
To
provide Aboriginal Traditional, intensive,
multi-disciplinary treatment for adult individuals,
couples and groups, by offering treatment
for trauma and major loss, group work, therapeutic
training and individual support, all with
a view to personal and community healing,
change and development.
OUR VISION
To
deliver an innovative Behavioural Health
program that addresses the needs of Aboriginal
adults seeking new ways, behaviours, and
disciplines in order to become better parents,
workers, leaders and mentors within their
family, community and society.
To improve the functional abilities of a
person and their family, so as to improve
the quality of life for Aboriginal people.
To
build the capacity of helpers, facilitators,
mentors, and workers who work with Aboriginal
people to address the needs of Aboriginal
people in an integrated manner.
